Another month, another release from our Sharegate team. We’re proud to add this 5.9 release to our already long list of features helping you migrate, report, and secure your environments. This time, we decided to focus on the migration experience, giving you even more tools to migrate to the next best thing.
Here’s what you’ll find next time you click on “update”:
- Migrate Records and Record Libraries
- Export/Import with Excel for Google Drive migrations
- Better warning on Path Too Long issues with our Pre-Check report
Let’s look at these improvements in detail.
Use Sharegate to Migrate Records and Record Libraries
Records are an important part of the document management suite that is SharePoint. They help you freeze a document in time. However, what if you need to move to a new version of SharePoint or Office 365? No worries! Sharegate will migrate the SharePoint records over, and make sure everything stays intact.
Use Excel to Help With Your Google Drive Migration
One of our more popular features, and frankly one of my favorite, is the export and import from Excel to help with migrating content using Sharegate. I love this feature because it helps me get help from others in the organization for the migration of content, and now it’s available for Google Drive as well.
Simply connect to the source and destination, then click on Export to Excel.
You’ll then be able to use the exported file to enter all the necessary or required information before migrating, even leveraging Excel formulas to do some of the work for you.
When you’re done, Import and watch the magic happen.
The Path Is Too Long to Migrate into SharePoint, and We’ll Tell You Before You Start
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. The way SharePoint is built, it imposes a limit on paths longer than 260 characters, and filenames or folders with over 128 characters. In the past, when migrating your file shares you’d only find out about the error during the process, or soon after if the limit was close to being reached.
We’ve Improved the Pre-Check report to make it tell you about these issues before you start the actual migration.
Once again, we’re happy to deliver more to your Sharegate subscription with this release, and are convinced it will help simplify your SharePoint Migration even further. We’ve already started working on our next release, and even have some fun stuff coming in the near future. Stay tuned!
