How to Edit Office 365 Groups Membership

In this video, we will show how you can easily edit the members of your Office 365 Groups. Whether you need to add or remove members and owners of Office 365 groups, with Sharegate, it’s a matter of just a few clicks.


From the Explorer, select the Groups to which you want to apply changes, it can be a single one, or a selection of multiple Groups.

Once your selection is made, you can then decide which role you want to assign the users, Members or Owners of the Group. Your next step is to select the users you want to grant memberships using the search bar. Note that you can give memberships to external users too. Then, simply click on Apply and you’re done.

Removing members is pretty much the same. Select the users, then choose if you want to remove them from the Members or Owners, and you’re done.

One thing to keep in mind is that adding or removing members and owners of an Office 365 Group, will also apply the changes to the SharePoint groups in the Site collection connected to this Group. Adding a user as a member of the Group will automatically add him in the corresponding Site members SharePoint group.
