What’s new in ShareGate? Delve into the ChangeLog’s May edition to learn about what we’ve worked on.
Welcome to another ChangeLog! In this month’s ChangeLog we’re back to our regular programming with a recap of recent updates and changes to help you make the most out of your ShareGate migration and management software

What’s new
This month’s focus is on the migration tool and its latest feature: Planner migration. That’s right, you can now migrate standalone Microsoft Planner plans tenant-to-tenant or within the same tenant.
We’ve also made minor changes to the Teams management’s user interface, allowing for a smoother navigation experience.
Migrate Planner plans with the migration tool 17.0
The new and improved ShareGate migration tool 17.0 is here, along with some fresh features designed to make your life easier.
In this latest release, you have the ability to migrate Planner plans standalone, from a team or group to another existing one whether they’re in the same tenant or not. No need to start a Teams migration (or use PowerShell) to copy a plan from one team to another!
This also means that you can easily copy over the plans that are not associated to Teams, and enable users to work in ways that suit them while maintaining some order in your tenant. For example, Sarah, the Project Manager who prefers to first create tasks and buckets before moving them over to a team within Teams.
We know that users don’t use every object type, or you might not need to copy everything over either. With the migration tool 17.0 Planner plan capability, alongside your plan, you can choose to:
- Copy everything (buckets, tasks, task attachments and comments)
- Copy everything except comments
- Copy buckets only
- Copy none of the items
Another customization you can put in place prior to starting your migration is to set whether plan members should never or always be added to the destination team/group after the copy. This means that if the plan’s being moved contains members who aren’t currently in the team/group where it’s being copied into, you can decide whether these members should be added at the destination.
This option doesn’t differ whether the team/group at the destination is private or public. Do note that no matter the option you pick, plans in public teams/groups are visible to everyone in your organization.

Coming soon
We’re always working hard on new features and improvements based on our users’ needs and requests. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming up next on the product roadmap:
Simple cloud migrations for Microsoft Teams
We’re kicking our Teams migration capabilities up a notch by making it possible for you to migrate a small number of teams tenant-to-tenant or within the same tenant, in the cloud. It’ll be easier for you to keep up with ongoing migration tasks and projects without having to worry about any issues that might arise due to your hardware.
This new addition complements what you can currently accomplish with our Teams migration capability by making sure users have exactly all that they need to continue working smoothly.
Live webinar with ShareGate’s Product team
In July, we’re partnering up with the Product team to present our roadmap for the second half of the year. We’ll be going over the projects that are already in the works, and even give you a sneak peek of what some of these new features might look like. It’ll be the perfect opportunity for you to ask questions directly to our team, and to share your opinion on what’s being worked on. More details to come!
